Another grand jury report out this morning says that the county is not ready for the housing demands of what the panel calls “new seniors” (read: aging and retiring baby boomers).

The report says that by the year 2030, the county’s population of those over 65 will have doubled and the demand for affordable housing will soar.

“Orange County may find itself with dramatic affordable housing shortages for its seniors or face an exodus of one of its largest population segments, unless plans for accommodating this growth are undertaken now,” the report says.

The panel says cities should step up and create housing plans for this new need in this report called ”NO COUNTY FOR OLD BOOMERS.”

(Get it? Like “No Country for Old Men.” And hat’s off to who ever is writing the groovy headlines over at the grand jury…yesterday’s equally good title to a new report was “MAN DOWN: WILL HE GET UP?”)
