This sounds like the comments being made back in the 70's, when we were on odd and even days buying gas. Same old politics. In California, it took one small oil spill to shut drilling down. There was one Seagull that must have had his picture taken 1000 times. Santa Barbara doesn't want their shoreline tainted, and our dear Governor Arnold, is letting his true colors show. He has been on the news all week..NO DRILLING OFF THE COAST OF CALIF. Of course it doesn't matter that the Oil Companies paid MILLIONS OF DOLLARS for the leases and can't drill on them. Of course, the state and government didn't give the money back. There is no 'quick fix' for the mess we are in, but if we had started 30 years ago, or even 10 years ago, we wouldn't be where we are today. Somebody has to be brave enough to take the first step..WHO EVER TAKES THAT STEP...I'M VOTING FOR HIM!!

Great post! Here in Washington State, we're working hard to finish getting our family leave insurance program fully funded and implemented. I've added ICCPR to our list of blog links - would you add us to yours? Our website is www.eoionline.org, and our blog is www.washingtonpolicywatch.org.

Thanks much,
